Privacy Policy – Website Change Monitor
What this covers
Website Change Monitor is a private, non-commercial tool. It is used only with its owner's own Google account and is not offered to anyone else. There is no hosted service and there are no other users.
This policy describes what the tool does with data it obtains from Google through the Gmail API.
Google account data the tool accesses
With the account owner's consent, given through Google's standard sign-in screen, the tool uses two Gmail permissions:
- Send email (
gmail.send): notification emails are sent from the owner's own account when a watched web page changes. - Read email (
gmail.readonly): recent messages in the owner's own mailbox are read to extract links from alert emails.
The tool does not request access to contacts, calendars, files or any other Google data.
How the data is used and stored
- All processing happens on computers the owner controls.
- From emails that are read, only the extracted links are kept. The content of the emails is not stored.
- The sign-in tokens that let the tool act on the owner's behalf are stored in local files on those computers.
- Data obtained through Google APIs is not sold and is not used for advertising.
Compliance with Google's policy
Website Change Monitor's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Revoking access and deleting data
Access can be revoked at any time on the Google Account permissions page: myaccount.google.com/permissions. Deleting the local token files removes the tool's stored access, and the locally kept links can be deleted at any time.
